The House of C Krishniah Chetty & Sons is considered as being one of the eastern world’s finest Heritage jewellery businesses. Having chronicled a 140-years heritage from being a jeweller to the British Empire, the Maharajas in South and Central India, it is today a preferred partner to world leaders in fashion and fine jewellery.

The company’s inception dates back to the 1860’s when Cotha Krishniah Chetty, the founder of C. Krishniah Chetty & Sons, started by selling colored beads to British residents, who took a fancy for beads which were then in vogue in Europe. The British army & Indian royalty being their clients demanded a high level of competence & expertise in craftsmanship, design and reliability in Diamonds, Gold & Silver. Their early commissions included making of specially designed and crafted trophies, medals, shields, large over-sized caskets, swords, army regalia, tiaras, and much more. For the erstwhile Maharaja of Mysore C Krishniah Chetty and Sons made hundreds of the famed pendants and jewels featuring in gold and diamonds the “Ghanda Berunda” (or the double headed eagle). The symbol is now adopted (although un-trademarked) by the State of Karnataka and is now in public domain.
