 The Sawansukha name has been intimately associated with diamonds for nearly 200
years. Today, apart from its traditional business in the wholesale trade, it is one of
Bengal’s leading jewellery retailers, with an award-winning showroom on Camac
Street as well as presence in several malls. Now led by the seventh generation of the
family, Sawansukha Jewellers has become known for its designer creations ranging from
original, international-style diamond jewellery to exquisite traditional gold sets and jadau
work. Its designs have won the GJEPC Solitaire Design Award for Best Design in three
consecutive years as well as DTC awards for best stock and best range of jewellery twice
in recent times.
In Kolkata, the first seeds were sown by Shri Rupchand Sawansukha in the 1970s and
the first showroom inaugurated in 1996. In the 21st century, Siddharthaa Sawansukha, a
graduate in Jewellery Design from the American Institute of Gemology, USA, took up
the reigns of the jewellery business. By introducing innovative and international design,
promotion and service concepts, he has carved out a special niche in Bengal’s traditional
jewellery market.
